Quality Stars NY. A Winning Beginning To All Our Children.

The Client

Idea Kraft provided a website overhaul for QUALITYstarsNY, New York’s Quality Rating and Improvement System (QRIS) for early childhood programs. The program had been maintaining two separate sites: one for educators and another for the families QRIS serves. The Idea Kraft team combined the two sites and streamlined the user flow to create a new website and information hub equally helpful to both audiences.

Web Development

Idea Kraft completely rehauled the information architecture and navigation of the site, making it easier for all users to navigate the site. We mapped out new user flows for both educators and families based on each audience’s specific needs. We emphasized topics that mattered most to each group and utilized interactive components to make resources findable and engaging.

The Map

We added a fully interactive and filterable map that allows users to quickly and easily find nearby programs. Not only did we upgrade the frontend, but we overhauled the backend so that it will be easy for QRIS to add new map points and data as needed in the future.

The user interface design emphasizes QRIS’s content while employing the brand’s type and color options to create a friendly aesthetic and establish a clear visual hierarchy.

QRIS standards navigation design

We incorporated accessible design elements and visual contrast into our web design, and made sure that the navigation and headers were readily accessible and understandable.

We simplified access to resources for both educators and families. QRIS staff can easily make updates and roll out new features as the program grows.
